Our very own Peter Eather was one of 4 finalists for the Ethnic Business Awards Foundation Indigenous in Business category. This highly prestigious award received hundreds of nominations, but Peter’s story of resilience and determination, combined with the family legacy he has built on Caring for Country and Community, stood out to the judges and the EBA board.
Many of you know that it’s rare to get Peter behind a microphone or in front of a camera, so this video about his history, his Dad, and how he started Eather Group is extra meaningful and inspiring.
Congratulations to this category’s winner Robby Mallard from Mallard Contracting, as well as the other incredible finalists; Steven Fordham from Blackrock industries and Cherie Johnson from Speaking In Colour. The event, attended by distinguished guests and live-streamed on SBS, NITV, and international TV stations, was a phenomenal platform for all of these Indigenous businesses to showcase not only their own value, but the value that First Nations businesses add to every industry.
What stood out most to us is that every finalist has built their business to be a force for lasting community outcomes and positive impact, and Robby’s acceptance speech hit the nail on the head: collaboration is the key to success. We’re thrilled to be able to say we all started the night as acquaintances, but left as friends.
